Survivor STORY

Rosa Dziewienski was born under the name of Ruth on May 5, 1922 in the small town of Lodz Poland. She took on the name of her mother, Rosa, after she perished in the Holocaust. She was the second oldest of the four children in her family. She married in 1939 as the Germans were invading Poland at the age of 17 to Felix Dziewienski, and had one son, Shlomo, who was killed by the Nazis as an infant. She and Felix had one other son who was born after the war, Roman Abraham Deville who was raised in Germany where they lived for 15 years.

Rosa and Felix came to America at the urging of their son in 1962 . As Rosa was mastering the English language, she began the origins of their now very successful Real Estate Company, Tempo Properties. Rosa had a deep love for all of her employees as evidenced by their loyalty to her and the company where many have spent over 30 years under her active leadership. Her deep devotion to communal causes can be seen in the multitude of charitable organizations she contributed her time and resources so generously to. Jewish organizations were the primary recipients of her generosity. She was very committed to furthering Jewish education for children by supporting Torah Day School in Atlanta as well as making contributions to Addlestone Hebrew Academy in Charleston, SC where 3 of her great grandchildren currently attend. An active supporter of Jews in need locally, nationally, and internationally, she contributed generously to The Atlanta Jewish Federation, Hadassah, Jewish National Fund, Beth Jacob Synagogue, AA Synagogue, amongst others. Her commitment to business and community were only overshadowed by her intense love and devotion to her family. She was devastated when her husband, Felix of 48 years passed away 1987. Fortunately, years later she found love once again and married Stefan Pajonk. The couple was together until his untimely death in 2007. Rosa died January 15, 2009 at Emory hospital. She Rosa is survived by her only child, Roman and daughter in law Diane, her granddaughter, Lara (Scott) and 3 great grandchildren Abby, Nate, and Eli, of Charleston, SC. And granddaughter Heather Benn (Josh) and 2 grandchildren Asher and Delilah of New York. Her grandson Justin Deville of Atlanta, GA and granddaughter Daryn Deville of California.
